Piece Quilt Blocks

USING YOUR HOOP!

Did you know you can make REAL, ACTUAL quilt blocks with your hoop????  With my technique you'll end up with 3, 4 or 6" finished blocks.  No experience needed.  Detailed, pictorial instructions are included.

Schokoladen Biskuittorte

Tell_Us_About_It

My high school German teacher, Frau Thielman, would take us down to the home economics kitchen about two or three times a year to let us make something German. This was by far one of my favorites.

Ladies, ye who is in need of a chocolate fix will need no more than a small piece, but why stop there!!! :o)

Ingredients

Torte:

5 ounces semi-sweet chocolate 3 Tablespoons water 6 eggs
1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup flour

Filling:

1-1/2 sticks butter, softened 1/4 cup sugar 2 egg yolks
2 ounces grated semi-sweet chocolate 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

For the torte, melt chocolate with water and cool. Beat six egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Add cooled chocolate mixture.

Beat the six egg whites until stiff and fold these and 1/2 cup flour into mixture above. Place in a greased and floured 9" round cake pan. (Use a spring form pan if you have one)

Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

For the filling, blend together the butter and sugar. Add the yolks, grated chocolate, and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Refrigerate.

When the torte is cooled, slice it into two layers. Spread the filling between the layers of the torte, on the sides, and on the top. Frost with whipped cream or cool whip and decorate with chocolate shavings, if desired.

I am caught up on all my swaps right now. I am working on making two quilts right now: one for my daughter and one for my stepbrother.
