Mailing & Packaging
Instructions
Step ONE:
Make sure your blocks are ready
to mail
Step Two:
Labeling and Packaging
1. Unless
specified to not label, then neatly label each block with your name &
email address. See Guidelines on how to
properly label blocks.
2. If not
specified, fold
all blocks/fabric that are 9" AND above, Please
fold
them individually
into fourths and stack neatly with all corners together.
3. Place
each SET/Group
of blocks in a
LARGE Ziploc bag and label bag with your name/email address & the
number of blocks in the Ziploc. Please use the large Ziplocs
for easier re-packaging.
Be sure to include your
charity block. :o)
We have received pkgs that
were torn open, so it is important to place your blocks in labeled
Ziplocs whether you use the traditional brown envelopes or not.
Tape, Tape and use more Tape when sending in paper type envelopes.
Step Three:
Preparing your SASE
US
Swappers, did you know that if you send priority, you can get free
confirmation by going
HERE
and printing out a label (this will not work for you SASE however).
Be sure to read their instructions
1. Fill out an envelope
with your name/addy in the TO & my
name/addy in the FROM areas and put the appropriate amount
of postage on this envelope.
If you don't send enough
postage, you will be asked to pay it and NOT me and this will result
in your swap being delayed UNTIL I have received the amount due from
you. I will not pay from my pocket no matter how little or great the
amount is so MAKE SURE you have enough of return postage. You can
calculate postage by going to the
USPS Website. You just need to know the weight. Locate
your Hostesses zip code to figure exact fees.
NOTE: If
you do not send in postage, I will contact you via email then via SMS
forum. If I still don't hear from you in one months time. Your
swap/pkg will be donated to charity! You have my address, my email
address, local library for email, or via friends, so there is a way to
contact me.
2. On the
outside of your envelope, please write how many sets you've included
or the # of blocks/FQ's included, but
only mark this after
you have counted again! It saves me from having to count everyone's
blocks when they come in. If I request that you send in, say 14
blocks, be sure to send them ALL in and don't keep one for yourself
and submit only 13. Make yourself an extra because you may not get
one of your own back. This throws off the swap in ways you just
cannot fathom. I generally swap out hundreds of blocks at a time and
I really don't like to have to go back and recount to find where the
problem set was.
3. Now, take your SASE,
fold it, and place it in the LARGE Ziploc with your swap.
Also, for the return
envelope please use the kind you peel the tape off the back and it
sticks if you can... not the kind I have to tape up pretty please....
:o)
4. If you
just send money for postage you
STILL
need to send the Self Addressed Envelope or (2 mailing labels for
priority envelopes that are filled out)! I will not supply
regular envelopes! Also, by just sending money, your swap will be
delayed if I have to bring it to the PO.
5. You are ready to
mail now to your hostess:
For international
swappers,
There are 3
ways that you can do this:
A. You can send me money orders purchased from the Post Office,
not your bank.
Some banks charges 5.00 to handle money orders bought from your bank as
well as international checks, then it takes weeks to clear. Tell your
post office that you need a money order that can be cashed at a US
post office. Example: If I send something to Canada, I have to ask
for an international money order.
The amount of the postal money order for return postages should be
calculated this way.
1.
Have your PO weigh your package. Record the pounds and ounces.
2. Go here:
US International Postage Calculator
3. On the
USPS site, click on Package, Select Your Country in the drop down
menu, and type in the weight figure your postal carrier gave you, then
click continue.
4. Next, choose how you want it mailed back to you. Example:
Surface or Air
5. Now, there is a US dollar amount, this is the amount that your
postal money order should be.
6. Please write how you want it mailed back to you on the back of
your envelope. Example:
Air Parcel Post $17.50, Global Priority or Surface.
B. You
can send cash too,
but you are responsible for it and not me. Some gals are pretty good
at hiding it. It's usually wrapped in foil.
C. You can also go online and order stamps.
There are great sites out there for stamp collectors. Or, if you know
someone in the states, you could have them send you some. Perhaps
their bank doesn't charge for international checks or money orders not
purchased at a PO.
I am no
longer accepting IRC's or FQ's for exchange.
It was just to much
of a hassle and too costly for me, sorry.
You
are also responsible for knowing what the postage will be to me to, I
have no way of knowing that answer :o)
